Day 1 Nicaragua

Hello from Nicaragua! We made it here safe although a little delayed. Our plane had an electrical issue so we had to return to the gate and change planes. Brian sat next a really interesting woman who just published a book on international aid. She and I had a wonderful conversation which was very enlightening.

Despite the delay, we got here and it's beautiful! Brian drove us from Managua to San Juan del Sur and did a great job even though the last half of the drive was in the dark and hard to see. We made our the rental company and had a quick dinner next door at Big Wave Dave's. Then we followed the concierge up to the house. It's a 30 minute drive over some rough dirt roads but worth the trip.

Monkeys are chattering just outside our windows as I am typing. Brian went out barefoot to explore and got stung. He thinks it was a scorpion. The guide book says not to worry--no worse than a wasp sting.

It's time for bed. Looking forward to sleeping with the sounds of the ocean and jungle in the background.
